Audi to Expand A6 Model Series

Audi is adding a new Saloon to its A6 model range, blending elegant design, impressive aerodynamics, and advanced comfort. This latest model is aimed squarely at business and premium car buyers, delivering innovation in both form and function. This new A6 Saloon sets a record with a drag coefficient of just 0.23—the most aerodynamic combustion-engine production model in Audi’s history. This contributes to better efficiency, quieter travel, and improved driving dynamics. The design stays true to Audi’s clean and sporty look. At the front, a wide Singleframe grille sits low between sharp headlights and large air intakes. These air curtains help guide airflow smoothly around the car, improving both aerodynamics and appearance. The long, slightly rising rear end adds to the car’s road presence, while the sleek tail lights and light strip give it a modern edge.

Aerodynamics were a key focus in the design process. A sculpted tailgate and hollow groove shape create an ideal airflow stall point, while a wide diffuser at the rear balances lift and drag. This enhances both stability and handling. For comfort and control, the A6 Saloon offers optional adaptive air suspension. It automatically adjusts ride height and damping depending on driving mode. In normal mode, it lowers the car by 20mm; in dynamic mode, it drops another 10mm to improve stability and reduce drag at speed.

All-wheel steering is also available, enhancing agility and precision. At low speeds, the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels, making tight manoeuvres easier. At higher speeds, all four wheels turn in the same direction for improved stability and smoother handling.

Under the bonnet, the A6 Saloon features Audi’s latest mild-hybrid (MHEV plus) technology. Available with modern petrol and diesel engines, this system recovers energy while driving and assists the engine to boost performance and efficiency. It allows the car to coast or drive short distances on electric power alone in city traffic or during slow driving. It also provides extra torque and power when accelerating or overtaking. This mild-hybrid system can generate up to 230Nm of torque and 18kW of additional power. When slowing down, it can recover up to 25kW of energy. The result is a smoother, more efficient drive with lower CO₂ emissions. Inside, Audi has significantly improved sound insulation, making the cabin quieter and more relaxing. Better door seals, thicker windows, and tyres with built-in sound absorbers help reduce road and wind noise. Engine and transmission mounts have also been refined for a smoother ride.

The new Audi A6 Saloon will be built in Neckarsulm, Germany, and sold worldwide. In Ireland, orders open on Thursday, 16th April. Prices start at €64,940 for the entry-level 150kW TFSI petrol version. First customer deliveries are expected in summer 2025.
