BYD Announce New Irish Finance Partner

Things appear to be moving fast for the BYD (Build Your Dreams) brand as the company have already announced Bank of Ireland Finance as their exclusive finance partner. One of the world’s leading EV car brands. BYD electric vehicles, established in China in 1995 and recording global sales of almost 1 million purely electric cars in 2022, will be exclusively distributed in Ireland by Motor Distributors Limited (MDL) through their MSL dealerships in Dublin and Cork.

Bank of Ireland Finance’s partnership with this innovative car brand will initially see the BYD ATTO 3 on sale in MSL garages, while the BYD Dolphin will also be available for purchase in the coming months. BYD cars bring high tech, sustainable mobility solutions (and blade battery technology) to Irish customers, with sales figures in Ireland from the first quarter of 2023 revealing that new fully electric or plug-in hybrid electric vehicle sales by-passed diesel car sales for the very first time.

The new BYD partnership comes at a time when Bank of Ireland continues to make sustained progress across its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) pillars. BYD has been the best-selling manufacturer of electric cars in China for many years, and its entry into the Irish market marks a notable shift for EV consumers in terms of choice, value and range as the Government promotes its target of having 945,000 electric vehicles on our roads by 2030.
