Volvo Making Waves In Galway
Registrations for Volvo cars in Galway have surged since Connolly Motor Group opened the Volvo Galway dealership at Briarhill Industrial Park in Ballybrit in March. Volvo car registrations are up 60 per cent in Galway so far in 2023 and over 150 per cent in July 2023 compared to July 2022. Connolly’s invested €1.5m in the Volvo dealership, building a bespoke new workshop and six-car showroom, and created 15 jobs for Galway. Overall, Connolly’s employs 335 people across all its dealerships.
Prior to its opening, Volvo drivers had to travel to Athlone to have their car serviced at an official Volvo dealership. As well as selling the brand-new models in the Volvo range, the dealership offers aftersales services to current Volvo drivers, a full service and parts facility and the Volvo Select range of used cars.
Volvo Galway currently sells the XC90, XC60, XC40 and C40, with the XC60 being the biggest selling Premium SUV nationally. The all-new EX30, which is being launched at the National Ploughing Championships on September 20th, will also be available and is already generating huge interest and enquiries.
Connolly Motor Group, which is run by brothers Kevin and Neil Connolly, is one of the biggest motor groups in the country with 16 outlets representing 10 different franchises. The company has Audi dealerships in Sligo, Ballina and Galway; Mercedes-Benz dealerships in Sligo and Galway; Volkswagen dealerships in Sligo, Ballina and Letterkenny as well as Volkswagen Commercial dealerships in all three centres. It also has Hyundai Galway, SEAT Sligo, MG Sligo and CUPRA Sligo as well as running three used Car Centres in Ballina, Sligo and Galway.
